A Marine veteran, struck in the head by a projectile thrown or fired at him by Oakland police during last night's crackdown on Occupy Oakland demonstrators, is hospitalized in critical condition with a skull fracture and swelling of the brain. In a video, police are seen tossing what appears to be "non-lethal munitions" -- perhaps another gas canister or a "flash-bang" grenade -- in the direction of Olsen and a group of protesters that had gone to aid him as he lay on the ground. That canister exploded, scattering the group. I'll post the video, which will, and should, enrage you. → guardian.co.uk
